ZELDA Air Plasma Cutters

Getting a great weld starts with having two good pieces of metal to join together. Zelda plasma cutters are designed for effortlessly slicing ferrous and non-ferrous metals so you can fabricate them as needed. These cutters use an electric arc to heat up a high-speed cutting gas, converting it into a plasma form that cuts through molten metal cleanly and quickly. For precision metal work in straight lines, angles or curves, buy Zelda Tools to get professional quality at a DIY price.re also able to withstand even the most difficult requirements in the industrial sector.

ZELDA Air Plasma Cutters

What Is Air Plasma Cutters?

Zelda Plasma Cutters deliver fast cut speeds, optimal cut performance, and durability. The result is a superior cut with minimal dross, which minimizes the need for a secondary finishing operation.

Plasma cutting is used in cutting and gouging applications, and requires compressed air and electricity to create plasma gas. Zelda plasma cutters can cut up to 7/8-inch steel and stainless steel material, and up to 5/8-inch aluminum material.

Our machines are very widely used on all types of metal to achieve high-quality cuts and high levels of productivity. Under certain circumstances, it can achieve a comparable quality level to laser cutting, but at considerably lower production cost.

CUT Principle of The Process

Plasma cutting uses the ‘transferred arc’ mode. The arc is constricted between the electrode and the material to be cut, due to the gas flow used, causing the energy flow density and the temperature of the plasma jet to rise even further.
The gas flow consists of active or inert gases or gas mixtures.

In a typical handheld plasma system, the electrode and nozzle consumable parts are in contact with one another inside the torch when in the OFF state. When the trigger is squeezed, the power supply produces a DC current that flows through this connection, and also initiates the plasma gas flow. Once the plasma gas (compressed air) builds up enough pressure, the electrode and nozzle are forced apart, which causes an electrical spark that converts the air into a plasma jet.  The DC current flow then switches from electrode to nozzle, to a path between the electrode and work piece. This current and airflow continues until the trigger is released.

The process differs from the oxy-fuel process in that the plasma process operates by using the arc to melt the metal whereas in the oxy-fuel process, the oxygen oxidises the metal and the heat from the exothermic reaction melts the metal. Thus, unlike the oxy-fuel process, the plasma process can be applied to cutting metals, which form refractory oxides such as stainless steel, aluminium, cast iron and non-ferrous alloys.
